Before
you can navigate the raging waters of the major rivers, you must start
in tame waters and learn the fundamentals of boating - control and safety.
And what better place than the friendly confines of a camp pond equipped
with row boats, canoes, kayaks and Captain Lew.
After
learning boating fundamentals, campers practice their seamanship in a
game called CANOE POLO. A crew of two in each canoe has the job of maneuvering
the craft in order to be able to toss as many tennis balls as possible
into opponent's canoes, while avoiding incoming missiles through agile
movement (and use of their paddles, as well). A raging good time, while
canoing practice time is enjoyably logged.
